Update Saturday 1st August by Ian Robins and Matt.
D1661 – The 47 worked on the booked diesel turn over the weekend hauling a massive three coaches! Amazingly, it is now eight years since the loco arrived with us following attention at Brush Traction. But it is now becoming apparent that some bodywork repairs and a repaint are becoming necessary. Ways in which to best achieve this are currently being examined and it is possible that a livery change may be on the cards, watch this space!
D6566 – Jobs associated with the engine rebuild continue. On Saturday Dave Lane and myself cleaned the 1/2” BSW nuts and bolts for the exhaust system and gave them a coat of copper grease. If the threads were tight they were cleaned with a die nut or tap as applicable. Didn’t count exactly how many there were but it seemed to go on for ever! We will need to get some more nuts as a number of the original ones are a bit “chewed up”.
D1010 – Both engines were started up so Bob C could perform some more checks. The loco is now ready for a loaded test run planned provisionally for the 15th August.
D7018 – Graham has been preparing the roof section from the former boiler room ready for contract re-skinning. The boiler room will now be utilised to house the new batteries that are awaiting delivery to WN. Pipework is nearly finished.
D832 – The loco is now positioned on No.3 road in the shed and work to replace the four large leaf springs on the bogies is underway. The loco is currently stopped for this work which will be carried out before the locos next booked engagement on the 8th October.
Late Summer Weekend- updated details available on the loco allocations page.
