Update from Saturday 4th November. By Ian, Martin and Terry.

On Saturday the DEPG hosted 9 delegates from the Institute of Railway Operators who were treated to our
famous hospitality, followed by a tour round the depot, and in depth tours of some of our loco fleet. Their
visit was capped off with a chance for each of them to have a go at driving D6566 with some runs up and
down the tracks at Williton within station limits.
This was the third of four visits by the IRO to the WSR, the
first two covering signalling and operating and ours was to study Maintenance and Operation of Heritage
Diesels.
The final one in about two weeks time at Minehead will cover steam locos. All seemed very
pleased with their visit.

A real step forward with D9526 as well at the weekend.
This Saturday 4th November saw D9526's
reconditioned Paxman 6YJ cranked over and started
successfully. We have a few small issues to sort out
eg:- coolant hose leaks, throttle settings etc
,after which it is hoped we will be doing some light running in
tests leading to some loaded test runs over the winter.

Also
HD CCTV is now operating externally at Williton Depot, with images viewable remotely and recorded
for months at a time
, this will help protect our valuable assets and all part of our increased security
measures.
