An update below from Ian on D6566
During the test run last month it was apparent that there were some blows from the joints between the
cylinder head and liner on a few cylinders therefore indicating that the head nuts needed retorquing.
So on Saturday Andy R and I tackled the worst blowing head.
The coolant was drained from the loco and the coolant rails to the heads were removed.
The rocker assembly was removed as well as two of the mounting studs to make room for the 5x torque
multiplier.
With additional help from Leroy the head nuts were first torqued up to 500 lb-ft and then in a second run
up to the required 750 lb-ft.
A couple of the nuts were found only finger tight so no wonder it was blowing!
The rest will be done in due course.
