Update from Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August.
By Jon Tooke, Terry Deacon and Matt Cambourne

Its been a busy weekend for the group. On Saturday D1010 was used to haul a railtour through to Minehead,
heading up some maroon coaches as pictured below.
D1661 was used on the service train substituting for the DMU on Saturday as well at short notice.

On shed D7017 has been given a full repaint now by Graham and is pictured below resplendent in its
refreshed livery ready to attend the Old Oak Common open day on Saturday 2nd September. She will then
head off to the Great Central Railway to appear at their diesel gala.

Also on Saturday we had our AGM with John Cronin stepping down as Chairman to be replaced by Martin
Howard. Julien Weston steps up to the position of Vice Chairman.

On Sunday we had a very special do for John whos 75th birthday also took place over the weekend. D7017
was used to haul the lunchtime Quantock Belle Dining Train, and a number of us attended to ride along with
John to celebrate his long service as Chairman as well as his birthday. Luckily John will still be heavily
involved with the group, just a little less pressure.
