Update from Saturday 5th March 2016. By Jon Tooke.

The Somerset and Dorset Steam Gala was in full swing over the weekend.

On shed, work was progressed on the Warship.

Roy Jones is pictured below on paint removal duties for the water pipes from the groups second class

On Saturday evening Hymek D7017 went from Williton to Minehead light engine in preparation to work
the "breaking train" as part of the gala. Some atmospheric shots of this from Jon below.

On Sunday the train ran as planned replicating the reality of the end of the Somerset and Dorset- good
old Hymeks were used to haul these trains as part of the sad task of the destruction of this railway.

Imagine if the S&D had survived! Large towns now with little alternative other than car transport to reach
Bath and Bristol, surely one of the worst acts of the beaching "modernisation" era all those years ago!
