Monday 29th December is the day that has been allocated for the movement of Empty Coaching Stock (ECS) and locos from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead where they will undergo maintenance during the closed season.
Class 14 ‘Teddy Bear’ D9526 will also be in use and will haul Class 108 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) driving trailer (DTLC) 54270 (originally 56270) from Bishops Lydeard (BL) to Minehead (MD), calling at Williton (WN) to collect the other Class 108 vehicle that has been stabled there for some time, DTLC 56496. The ’14’ will then return to BL to resume her duties as station pilot where she is standing-in for Class 09 D4107 (09019) while that loco undergoes winter maintenance at WN. A detailed explanation for this working will be included in the next edition of the WEEKLY ROUNDUP.
The approximate timings for these special workings are as follows:
10:00 : Class 115 DMU departs BL for MD (on a test run)
10:45 : Class 14 D9526 and Class 108 DTLC 54270 depart BL for WN (to collect DTLC 56496)
11:30 : Class 14 D9526 and both Class 108 DTLCs depart WN for MD.
12:00 : Steam loco and ECS depart BL for MD.
12:45 : Steam loco and ECS depart BL for MD.
14:00 : Class 14 D9526 and Brake Van depart MD for BL.
15:00 : Class 115 DMU departs MD for BL
NOTE – the timings may change to suit operational requirements
On the Great Central Railway, Class 35 ‘Hymek’ D7018 will be working the ‘NIGHTRIDER‘ on New Year’s Eve along with BR Standard Class 5 4-6-0 73156 and will haul four round trips starting at 7pm and ending at 1am. What a great way to see in the New Year – Please try to support this event if you can !
