D7017 was lifted at WSR Restorations ‘Swindon Shed’ on 29th March 2022 so that her bogies could be rolled out for spring replacement work to take place. The lift was a milestone in the project and the result of several days of hard work for the team, working in the pit underneath the locomotive to disconnect the drive shafts and air hoses that connect the bogies to the locomotive.

Upon completion of the ‘lift’, the first of the two bogies to be worked upon was the one with the known defective spring, and at the end of the day, the top part of the bolster had been removed and the secondary elliptical springs lifted out. Quite a busy day !
