On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August, D9526 will be in use at the STEAM RALLY, providing brake vans rides along the remains of the Barnstaple branch line. Visitors to the STEAM RALLY will find the platform at the south edge of the site, signposted HOLMES HALT, between the Archery area and the Camping area, as shown on the map below, just beyond the CARS, BIKES, TRUCKS, BUSES and various other non-steam displays:

  • Happy 57th Birthday to D9526 !

Our Class 14 number D9526 entered service with British Railways at Bristol Bath Road depot on the 6th of January 1965, so she became 57 years of age yesterday !

Currently on loan to the KENT & EAST SUSSEX RAILWAY, this loco had a very succesful 2021 season and generated a useful contribution to DEPG funds, seeing regular use on the K&ESR while standing in for her slightly older sister D9504 who is undergoing heavy maintenance at present.

D9526 will return to Williton in May this year, in time to participate in the WSR’s 2022 DIESEL GALA.

VERY IMPORTANT DATES FOR YOUR DIARY – the WSR’s 2022 Diesel Gala will take place from Thursday 9th through Saturday 11th June 2022, so keep these dates free and make a plan to attend !

Our Class 14 number D9526 entered service with British Railways at Bristol Bath Road depot on the 6th of January 1965, so she is 56 years old today !

Looking every bit as good as new because of the care and attention given to her by her dedicated team at Williton, this loco is equally at home on goods or passenger workings and is a very useful member of the DEPG fleet.

In April, we will be able to celebrate 41 years of this loco being based on the West Somerset Railway, so let’s hope that we can get her out and about for everyone to see.
